Apple is expected to use a system of three-dimensional facial recognition in iPhone 8 and this is making to strengthen the security of the phone.
Technology analyst Rod Hall said the American giant will use the new 3D system, which is expected to replace the scanner for fingerprint recognition, whereas previously it was reported that the device may have an iris scanner.
The new 3D scanner will add another 10 or $ 15 bill for the creation of iPhone 8. The module is expected to be used VR technology already used enough.
This would pave the way Apple to improve in terms of games. For this option Apple may have an extra accessories AR / VR.
Apple's new phones are expected to launch in September.
Basics of the technology
A 3D sensor needs a few key features —it needs a light emitter in the form of a LED or laser diode, a light filter for a noise-free scan, and a speedy image sensor coupled with a powerful signal processor. Each aspect has some implementation difficulties, which Hall believes have been rectified by Apple and partner Primesense in a relatively inexpensive package that should add not much more than 3 percent to the build cost of an iPhone.
At first glance, the technology described resembles a miniaturized version of a LIDAR mapper or rangefinder.
At present, at macro scale, LIDAR is used in many physical sciences, and heavily used by the military in ordnance guidance suites. Resolution and accuracy greatly depends on a combination of factors, not the least of which is the integration of the laser and the sensor —which Apple's acquisition of Primesense appears intended for.
Miniaturized hardware
Any 3D laser scanning apparatus in a smartphone would likely be introduced in a wafer-level "stacked" optical column, rather than a conventional barrel lens.
While more complex, the stack occupies less volume in the phone, and is arguably more resistant to damage. However, optical diffraction can be a problem, as can lower yield rates in production, potentially driving the cost up, or being a supply-limiting factor in getting devices equipped with the stack to retail.
The technology has more use than facial recognition. A potential API release, which is probably not likely early in the hardware's life, could open up other uses like ultimate use in augmented reality and virtual reality headsets, clothing sizing, accurate distance measurements for home improvement, scanning for 3D printing, appliance and HomeKit integration, and other applications needing precise volumetric scans, or range-finding needs.
Outside Cupertino
Given's Apple's ownership of Primesense intellectual property, the company stands to gain from other industries implementation of the technology as well.
"Creating small, inexpensive, 3D scanning modules has interesting application far beyond smartphones. Eventually we believe these sensors are likely to appear on auto-driving platforms as well as in many other use cases," writes Hall. "Maybe a fridge that can tell what types of food you have stored in it isn't as far off as you thought."
While the "iPhone 8" is expected to be laden with all of Apple's newest technologies —including an OLED wrap-around display, fingerprint sensor embedded in the screen glass, and others —the 3D sensing technology may not be limited to just the high end. Hall believes that there is "more unit volume" for production of the sensor sandwich, opening up the possibilities that it will appear on the "iPhone 7s" series, in addition to the expected $1,000+ high-end "iPhone 8."
Apple purchased Israeli-based PrimeSense in lat 2013, for around $360 million. PrimeSense created sensors, specialized silicon and middle-ware for motion sensing and 3D scanning applications, and was heavily involved in the development of Microsoft's Kinect sensor technology before the deal.

This is Costa's future, according to Conte
Chelsea boss Antonio Conte says the new contract by Diego Costa is not his priority, përdreisa FOR TWO club struggling preferred.
"I do not know about his situation sepes is important to focus on the present and not look so forward."
"I think right now the players and people must work for Chelsea and for me it is important to be focused on the present. At the end of the season we will see the situation, "said Conte.
He added that he is convinced that Costa will continue the contract with Chelsea, but that the most important is that it be focused on the present.
Asked if he was confident of keeping Costa at Stamford Bridge, the Italian added: "Yes, I'm confident, but I repeat now it's important to keep the great concentration for the present.
"Tomorrow's game against Wolverhampton is the present. We must go into the next round and then, I repeat, this situation will be better to face at the end of the season."
Chelsea face Wolves at Molineux in the fifth round of the FA Cup, with attention briefly switching to the knockout competition before it returns to the consolidation of an eight-point advantage in the Premier League.
But despite the huge money on offer elsewhere, Conte is in no hurry to secure his striker on an improved contract.
"I don't know about this situation because I think now it's very important to be focused on the present and not to look so far forward," Conte said.
"I think now for the players, for the people who work for Chelsea, and for me it's important to be focused on the present. At the end of the season we'll see the situation."
Costa has struck 15 Premier League goals to help Chelsea to the top of the table and Conte is confident the player will stay.
"Yes, I'm confident [he will stay]," Conte said ahead of the FA Cup fifth round game against Wolves. "It's important for the group concentration for tomorrow's game versus Wolverhampton.
"We must go to the next round and then I repeat, this situation will be better to face at the end of the season."
Conte will have John Terry available for the game against Wolves with the Chelsea captain overcoming an ankle knock.
The former Juventus boss also insists David Luiz's knee injury has responded well, but that the Brazil international and Marcos Alonso could be rested.
"John Terry is fit. He's OK. All the players are available," Conte said. "There is a situation that is better to keep under control for Marcos Alonso -- a bit of rest.
"Also for David Luiz and a big opportunity to give him a week to recover very well and prepare for the next game. All the players are in a good form."

Guardiola is returning to Barcelona?
Pep Guardiola has rejected a return to its potential to Barcelona.
Deep after losing 4-0 to Barcelona against PSG in the Champions League, they created many rumors about the departure of Luis Enrique.
Enriques successor to the post of coach mentioned the return of Guardiola, who won everything with the Catalan club, but his coach has denied such a thing.
"I will not go back to Barcelona for the trainer. My period has ended there, "said Guardiola to British media.
"Barcelona are still the best team in the world"
"They have done it over the years, dominating football for 10 years, and they continue to be the best team in the world," concluded the Spanish coach.
"There's a lot of competition, the opposition are so strong," said Guardiola. "You can win heavily or you can lose heavily, that can happen, it's happened to me, but there are 90 minutes to go and anything can happen. If there's a team who can do it, then it's Barca, with their mentality.
"I will never go back to Barcelona to be coach there. My period there is gone.
"Barcelona are still the best team in the world. It's always a surprise because they are so, so good, but in football anything can happen.
The 46-year-old would prefer the cup competition to follow the Copa del Rey in Spain, where all ties bar the final are played over two legs, or Germany's cup tournament, where drawn matches are decided with extra-time and penalties, without the need for a replay.
"In Spain, we play two games. I prefer that situation," he said. "Maybe for the amount of games played, extra-time and penalties would be good.
While the more immediate focus will naturally be ending the season in positive fashion, it won’t be long before it switches back to where Barca go next.
As noted by The Sun, the rumour regarding Guardiola’s possible return stemmed from the fact that Lionel Messi reportedly wants him back in Spain, with calls allegedly being made to try and convince him to return to the Nou Camp.
However, with his project at City only just starting, the Spanish tactician has other things to be concerned about and has now ruled out the chance of ever having a second spell with the Catalan giants.

Galaxy S8 revealed on February 27
Samsung will announce the official launch date of Galaxy S8 on February 27.
Director of mobile communications at Samsung has announced the official launch of the phone will be launched officially at the Mobile World Congress.
The company has booked a media event during MWC, but the Galaxy S8 there will not be revealed, although according to some reports say that in this case the company will present a one-minute promotional video of the device.
From what we've heard so far, Galaxy S8 will be made official at an event to be held in New York on March 29, and will go on sale on April 21.
Samsung typically announces new phones at the end of February, but its mobile president confirmed that the Samsung Galaxy S8 won't be announced at MWC 2017 – well, not announced in full at least.
Instead, we'll see the new Android Nougat phone teased in a one-minute video at the event on February 26, according to a new report out of Korea. Most of the company's MWC press conference will focus on the Samsung Galaxy Tab S3.
Expect 60 seconds a slowly rotating smartphone draped in dark shadows and have it all accompanied by booming music. Maybe even a tagline like 'The next big thing just got even bigger,' alluding to a larger display size.
The official launch date may happen a little more than one month later, with the newest believable leaks saying it'll be a March 29 launch event in New York that outs the new Samsung phone. The actual Galaxy S8 release date in stores is expected to be April 21.
Samsung's biggest phones typically go through a one month lag time between their announcement and actual shipment dates, so that part at least checks out.
Of course, we've also heard about other possible release dates, including April 18. Either way, Samsung isn't launching its phone as soon as it usually does.
Samsung Galaxy S8 may give everyone what they want: a bigger screen without making the phone dimensions any larger. Is it finally happening?
It's going to come in two sizes, one with a 5.8-inch display and another with a 6.2-inch screen, both with curves and a Quad HD resolution, according to a leak obtained by VentureBeat.
That would make the Galaxy S8 display – in either size – larger than the 5.7-inch Note 7. Don't worry, it's not actually going to be any more massive.
The phone is said to max out the screen real estate by ditching the home button at the bottom and that always-gaudy Samsung logo at the top.
Following the Galaxy Note 7 debacle, one of the obvious challenges that Samsung faced was to regain consumer confidence in its handsets. When airline passengers are warned not to travel with a Samsung Galaxy, when news reports around the world talk of exploding phones, and when your favorite brand is a late-night punchline, the next Samsung may not be going to the top of your "must have" list.

Suarez misses the final
Two yellow cardboard against Atletico Madrid and the red at the end of the match, Luis Suarez have missed the final of the Copa del Rey.
Catalan club, Barcelona have made a complaint to the Football Federation of Spain but that was rejected.
The Spanish Federation has seen the footage again and decided that the punishment of Suarez remain in force.
Suarez is not sentenced to a game within the game in the Spanish Cup.
So star Uruguayan will miss Barcelona in the Copa del Rey final against Deportivo Alaves.
But 30-year-old received a fine of 600 euros from the Federation.
Atletico surrendered their numerical advantage 21 minutes from time, Carrasco clattering into Arda Turan to get his second yellow, and yet their best chance to score was still to come.
Gerard Pique was adjudged to have brought down Gameiro in the box, but after he picked himself up to take the spot-kick, the Frenchman fired it against the top of the crossbar.
Deflated by that blow, Atletico's threat faded before Suarez's late indiscretion – leading to his first Barca dismissal – briefly revitalised them, but Luis Enrique's men dug deep to make it through.
Despite being up against it for much of the opening half, Barca came close to breaking the deadlock early on when Suarez's low strike forced a near-post save from Moya.
Atletico responded with a swift counter-attack and Carrasco should have done better after creating space to shoot deep inside the box, but his effort was too close to Jasper Cillessen.
There was another warning shot from the visitors in the 11th minute, Cillessen having to quickly change direction to keep out Griezmann's header before gathering the loose ball.
A powerful Diego Godin header and some urgent defending from Jordi Alba to thwart Griezmann underlined the growing threat of Simeone's side.
But they failed to make their superiority count and Barca pounced against the run of play on the stroke of half-time, Suarez prodding home from Messi's saved effort.
Atletico were handed added impetus when Roberto was given his marching orders having gone in studs-up on Filipe Luis, but a poor decision from the assistant referee to flag Griezmann offside as he picked out the bottom corner denied them a leveller.
Their momentum appeared to be stifled when Carrasco mindlessly fouled Arda to call his evening to an end, and Messi almost put the tie to bed with a stunning free-kick that cracked the underside of the crossbar from 30 yards.
But Pique's foul on Gameiro handed Atletico a penalty from which the 29-year-old missed, only to make amends with a tap-in from compatriot Griezmann's assist three minutes later.
Suarez was flagged offside late on as he sought to seal Barca's progression, but he soon ended his own involvement in this year's competition with a foul that led to the game's third red card.
Suarez didn’t see any harm in the contact and thought Koke overplayed the incident.
“I’m laughing at that second yellow card, it’s not even a foul,” Suarez told Gol TV via the BBC. “I did absolutely nothing. It was what he [Koke] wanted.”
Unfortunately for Suarez and Barcelona, the federation’s opinion is the one that counts. With a two-match ban, Suarez misses the May 27 final and will also be out for Barcelona’s first domestic cup tie next season. Of course, Barcelona have an embarrassment of riches in their attack and will probably be able to ease past Alaves, who sit 12th in the La Liga table at the moment.
With Suarez sidelined, Barcelona will have to lean on the likes of Lionel Messi and Neymar to pick up the slack, along with Arda Turan and Denis Suarez.
Still, Suarez would certainly much rather prefer to be out there if Barcelona lift the trophy for the third straight year.
Simeone's side pushed to force it to extra time, but came up short and Barca will meet either Alaves or Celta Vigo in the final, with the sides playing on Wednesday in a tie that is goalless after the first leg.

'Dybala the new Messi'
Maurizio Zamparini, Palermo president believes Juventus star, Paulo Dybala is like the legend of Lionel Messi
"Whoever criticizes Messi is crazy. We are talking about the new Messi (Dybalan). He will become a player like Messi and he is already at that level, "he said Zamparini told Tuttosport.
Zamparini had sold Dybalan to Juventus in the summer of 2015, for 40 million euro. But now he believes that the price has quadrupled Argentine.
"I would say he is worth 140 or 150 million euros. As I said, it is Messi young. I have said that he is destined to become a star when he arrived in Palermo in 2012," he said.
Palermo President Maurizio Zamparini trusts Paulo Dybala “is now worth €150m. He’s the new Leo Messi” for Juventus.
La Joya was sold to the Turin giants in the summer of 2015 for €32m, but his price-tag has sky-rocketed.
“I watch the games and Dybala looks like the best player out there. Anyone who criticises him is mad, because Dybala is the new Leo Messi. He will become a player like that and is already reaching that level,” Zamparini told Tuttosport.
“Did you see the game against Cagliari? Who else can send Gonzalo Higuain clear on goal in the best situation to score?”
There have already been reports of an exit with Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain interested.
“Beppe Marotta is a friend and I’d like Dybala to stay at Juventus. In my view the club can afford a player like this, even though there will certainly be offers.
“After all, world class players are wanted everywhere. As far as I can tell, Dybala is worth €150m. I’ve been telling him since he first arrived that he was destined for greatness.
“And to think some of my Coaches left him on the bench at Palermo. Don’t remind me…”
Zamparini is also impressed by Dybala’s Juventus and Argentina teammate Gonzalo Higuain.
“He is an extraordinary and unique striker. He was born to score goals. With his characteristics, he is the best centre-forward in the world, but then you have different types of central striker.
“He really reminds me of Gunnar Nordahl, a forward with great technique and physical strength. Higuain is Higuain – if you give him the right service, he’ll put it in the back of the net.
“I believe Juventus can win the Champions League. It requires a certain maturity and Napoli proved against Real Madrid that they don’t have that yet.”
"I hope he will stay at Juventus. I think they can hold on to him. But of course there will be approaches. World-class players are always coveted by everyone. But I hope he will stay at Juventus for a long time."
Dybala has netted eight times in 24 appearances in all competitions this season.
Bayern, Inter and City interested for the talented german player
German great talent shone with Bayer Leverkusen becoming the leader in defense.
Thanks defensive interference accurate and penetration in attack Henrichs has won a place in the German national team.
19-year-old is seen as the future of German football and he can leave Leverkusen at the end of the season.
Finally the race was introduced to Italian giant Inter who also is seeking to strengthen protection.
Leverkusen appreciates their star and has set a price of 25 million euro departure.
Remember that strong race right defender is the current German champions, Bayern Munich.
Inter owners Suning have the spending power to compete with City for the youngster this summer.
Henrichs' agent Ali Bulut told Fussball Transfers recently: "For all the clubs that contact me and ask how the availability of the player looks, I say the same: Benny has a contract until 2020 and should develop in peace."
All have struggled to make the right-back and left-back spots their own, however, and Guardiola is likely to seek reinforcements as soon as possible.
Henrichs, who can operate on either side of the defence and also in midfield, made his Leverkusen debut at age 18 has already been capped by the senior Germany team.
"There are many clubs that are interested in Benjamin," his representative Ali Bulut told Express. "But the boy is only 19 years old, last year he still played in the youth team.
"He is supposed to grow up first. In Leverkusen, he is in the best position at the moment."
Will Benjamin Henrichs be the new Philipp Lahm? Since the Bavarian captain will end his career already next summer and thus one year before the conclusion of the contract, the Munich team is struggling intensively to replace the right defensive outback. According to SPORTBILD information at the top of the list: The 19-year-old Leverkusener Henrichs!
The German record champion has already begun talks with Bayer to explore the chances of being able to commit the foreign defender already in the next transfer period. Originally, it was planned to make an effort to get to the Jungnationalspieler (contract until 2020). The lame resignation now increases the urgency.
Henrichs had won a place at the end of last season with Bayer. In the current season he has played so far to 17 Bundesliga games. In addition, six appearances in the Champions League. Last November, he made his debut in the World Cup qualifying round in San Marino (8-0) for the DFB elite. The market value of the defensive player is, according to the deputy, ten million euros.

Verratti wanted by top teams
Marco Verratti's agent has spoken to his client's future.
Italian midfielder has become a super-big league victory PSG against Barcelona. Italian required by Europe's top clubs.
"Marco is a major crossroads in his career. He is 24 years old and will have to take important decisions for the future, "said agent Donato Di Campli.
"Real Madrid and Barcelona are interested in, but there are also some Italian clubs like Inter and Juventus," said Verratti's agent.
He also wanted by Chelsea and Manchester United.
Verratti has spent nearly his entire senior career at Paris Saint-Germain, joining in 2012. He won the Ligue One title each of those years, ensuring consistent Champions League ball. He has 35 Champions League appearances, but has never progressed beyond the quarter-finals.
Despite his loyalty to the club, his desire to win a more competitive league and move deeper on the European stage may compel him to leave France.
Paris Saint-Germain would demand – and should receive – the entirety of the Oscar windfall for Verratti. Chelsea would also need to top that off with contributions from the Mikel John Obi and Branislav Ivanovic transfer revenue. Chelsea should expect to pay from the mid-£60 to mid-£70 million for Verratti.
At the other end of this week’s Champions League success (and on the subject of clubs who never advance very far), Alexis Sanchez has to be seriously questioning his choices in life right now. Bayern Munich handed Arsenal and Arsene Wenger a historically brutal defeat.
Sanchez scored Arsenal’s only goal. He knocked in the second rebound from his own penalty, which Manuel Neuer initially saved. Sanchez’s goal took Arsenal to half-time at 1-1, but then the Arsenal happened.
Verratti has been the subject of regular transfer speculation but said he was part of "a great project" at the Parc des Princes.
"I am happy to be attracting interest from elsewhere, and other major clubs, but I do not want a change," he added.
"I am part of a great project and we want to become one of the top three teams in Europe."
He explained that fatigue had been behind the leg injury that saw him substituted with 20 minutes of the game remaining.
Next up for Verratti and PSG are Toulouse, who visit in Ligue 1 on Sunday and are one of the four teams to have beaten Emery's men this season.

Trump's presidence in crisis?
President Donald Trump is trying to emerge from the situation after the resignation of his adviser for national security, Michael Flynn, which raises questions about the ability of his people gathered around him, but also to the thorny issue of relations Moscow.
Less than a month since taking office and several days after returning back to his judicial decree for Migration, the American president should replace a central character in his cabinet.
Charged his contacts with the Russian ambassador in Washington Sergei Kisljak, former General Flynn was forced to resign.
In his resignation letter, he acknowledged that carelessly chosen Vice cheated, Mike Pence giving incomplete information to telephone conversations with Russian diplomat.
The White House tried today to limit the damage.
Kellyanne Conway, close adviser of Trump switched from a television in another attempt to summarize the issue in access to a counselor.
Former interim Minister of Justice US and Congress have launched separate investigations for possible links between campaign advisers Trump and Moscow.
American secret services so far have concluded that Russian President Vladimir Putin was also responsible directly interfering in the choice made.
"Flynn resignation may be possible indices of a new series of investigations," said Julian Zelizer, professor at Princeton University, in an editorial published on CNN.
President Trump’s ouster of national security adviser Michael Flynn, and the circumstances leading up to it, have quickly become a major crisis for the fledgling administration, forcing the White House on the defensive and precipitating the first significant breach in relations between Trump and an increasingly restive Republican Congress.
Even as the White House described Trump’s “immediate, decisive” action in demanding Flynn’s resignation late Monday as the end of an unfortunate episode, senior GOP lawmakers were buckling under growing pressure to investigate it.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Tuesday that it was “highly likely” that the events leading to Flynn’s departure would be added to a broader probe into Russian meddling in the U.S. presidential election. Intercepts showed that Flynn discussed U.S. sanctions in a phone call with the Russian ambassador — a conversation topic that Flynn first denied and then later said he could not recall.
McConnell’s comments followed White House revelations that Trump was aware “for weeks” that Flynn had misled Vice President Pence and others about the content of his late-December talks with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak.
White House counsel Donald F. McGahn told Trump in a briefing late last month that Flynn, despite his claims to the contrary, had discussed U.S. sanctions imposed on Russia by the Obama administration in late December, press secretary Sean Spicer said Tuesday. That briefing, he said, came “immediately” after Sally Q. Yates, then the acting attorney general, informed McGahn on Jan. 26 about discrepancies between intercepts of Kislyak’s phone calls and public statements by Pence and others that there had been no discussion of sanctions.

NASA: The asteroid with diameter nearly as Empire State Building could smash into Earth
A peanut-shaped asteroid the size of the Empire State Building could someday hit Earth, experts have warned NASA.
2015BN509 stone known as Earth approached last week, when flew with incredible speed of 70,500 kilometers per hour.
NASA has labeled the asteroid, which is about 200 meters wide and 400 long, as "potentially dangerous" to Earth.
Empire State Building is 381 meters long, and if an asteroid the size of this building would hit the Earth would have major consequences.
This asteroid is captured flying telescope called Arecibo Observatory.
"An asteroid impact, unlike other natural catastrophes, can actually be avoided."
NASA has an asteroid early warning system called Scout in place. Within 10 minutes of spotting an incoming asteroid it can project potential flight paths.
It alerts three other telescopes to perform follow-up observations and narrow down a rock's trajectory.
"When a telescope first finds a moving object, all you know is it's just a dot, moving on the sky. You have no information about how far away it is," astronomer Paul Chodas from NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, which runs the Scout program.
Dr Edgard Rivera-Valentín, a planetary scientist with the Universities Space Research Association who studies data from The Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico, told Business Insider : 'The peanut shape comes from the fact that it is a contact binary where the two parts [of asteroids] could not successfully orbit each other and fell back together.
Arecibo Observatory, which was used as a setting for the James Bond film GoldenEye , is capable of studying size, shape, composition and geology of an asteroid - as well as how it is spinning.
"Arecibo goes beyond acting as a fortune teller, we can characterize these objects," said Dr Rivera-Valentín.

Wenger confident: We will eliminate Bayern
Arsenal's French coach, Arsene Wenger believes it will successfully pass Bayern Munich.
German giant has eliminated the English three times the last four years.
But the Frenchman thinks that things have changed and that his arsenal will be switched on.
"It is true that we have had bad experience against Bayern," said Wenger.
"But I feel that this is a good opportunity. We have previously won in Munich and play the first leg on the trip. "
"So it is important to have the second leg at home, because if they have a chance to qualify in this showdown, the fact that everything will be decided in London is incredibly important."
"We need to defend well as a team," Wenger told the club's official website.
Meanwhile Ancelotti believes Wenger should be praised for the job he has done.
"He built a strong identity and a good style of football," said the Italian.
"Wenger has the experience to know that in our job it is normal to be criticised. For this reason he has no problems.
"I have a lot of respect for the job he has done at Arsenal."
Former Chelsea boss Ancelotti was speaking before Wednesday's Champions League last-16 first leg tie between the sides in Germany.
With Arsenal fourth in the Premier League and 10 points behind leaders Chelsea, success in Europe and the FA Cup is looking increasingly likely to be the Gunners' best chance of securing silverware this season.
Arsenal face a tough test against a Bayern side they have met three times at this stage of the competition since 2005, losing on each of those three occasions.
However, Wenger believes his side possess the experience to cause their opponents problems.
"We know we play against Bayern who, basically, listening to you [reporters] are favourites," he said.
"We have to be very positive on the fighting front and playing front.
"When you look at their record they are always in the last four. It is a massive challenge but we are capable of dealing with it."

The first flying-car
A vehicle manufacturer from the Netherlands has been on the market for the first time ever commercial flying machines.
Manufacturer "PAL-V" has created two types of flying machines "Liberty Sport" and "Libery pionner".
These machines have three seats trirrotëshe and are able to fly at speeds of up to 180 kilometers per hour.
"Liberty Sport" is the best of both machines, whose basic model costs starting at a price of 400,000 dollars.
The "Liberty pionner", meanwhile, costs no less than $ 600,000.
For $400,000, you can buy a very nice Rolls-Royce Dawn. Or you can purchase something slightly less sleek but more versatile: a flying car.
Dutch company PAL-V is now taking orders for the world’s first commercial flying car, the Liberty. The company says that the Liberty models are fully compliant with safety regulations set by global governing bodies, and that deliveries will begin by the end of 2018.
The first 90 copies are designated as Pioneer Editions, boasting special exterior and interior details. For the personalized touch and additional standard features such as power heating, buyers will have to pay $599,000. After the Pioneer Edition sells out, PAL-V will start selling the standard model, known as the Liberty Sport, for $399,000.
Buyers should have a license for both driving and flying. On the road, the Liberty can lower its suspension and make use of its tilting cockpit for better maneuverability. PAL-V lists top speed on the road as 100 mph, while 0-62 mph is estimated to take less than 9 seconds. In the air, it can travel at up to 112 mph.

Golf VII Review
Keeping interest alive in Volkswagen's timeless Golf model has been made easy by slightly sharper looks and a revised specification for cars sold in Australia. Volkswagen won't be bringing the fuel efficient new 1.5-litre engines here for the 'Golf 7.5', but the existing 1.4-litre 110TSI engine remains a frugal powerplant that's still competitive in the market. Unspecified price increases are offset by new features and the replacement of the entry-level 92TSI variant with the 110TSI.
A brief international drive program was long enough to convince that Volkswagen has been quite careful in the way it has upgraded the Golf 7 for its mid-life cycle revival (the so-called Golf 7.5, which is not official VW nomenclature).
Very little has been done in the way of fixing what aint broke, but the changes made – some cosmetic, most comprising new comfort, convenience and safety features – are intended to hone in on a new generation of younger buyers.
Volkswagen has updated the car with which its brand is now most synonymous — the Golf. The running changes come about four years into the seventh-generation model’s life cycle, prompting many to colloquially dub it the ‘Mk 7.5’.
However, while some of the upgrades are significant, in particular the cutting-edge cabin infotainment and the rollout of partial autonomous driving systems, the fundamentals are familiar. Those denoting it as half a generational change (not Volkswagen, we'd add) are ambitious.
On the flip side, if your product isn’t broken, there’s little to fix, and the Golf remains a top pick in the small car class. That fact doesn’t change, and what this upgrade brings to the table is a layer of ultra-modern polish to stave off aggressive contenders for its crown.
A synopsis of the changes goes like this: redesigned bumper, grille and headlights; more sophisticated in-car display screens added; extra semi-automated active safety tech; a more efficient new 1.5-litre petrol engine; and power bumps for the Golf GTI and Golf R.
The equivalent of a new coat of tasteful paint rather than a complete renovation.
Some Australian-market specifics. The 2017 Volkswagen Golf will arrive on July 3, starting with the hatch, wagon and Alltrack crossover, an iteration with on-demand all-wheel drive (AWD), soft-roading software and body cladding.
A few weeks later will come the rejigged Golf GTI and Golf R, both of which get small power increases — to 169kW and 213kW respectively — and will become more luxurious than ever before.
Generally very quiet as a tourer, the GTI would sit on 100km/h with the engine ticking over at just 1800rpm. The hot hatch was free from labouring at engine speeds down to 1500rpm but sounded like a barking beast when opened up. There was negligible turbo lag and no apparent torque steer, which is something we also found to be the case with the GTI 40 Years model we compared against the Peugeot 308 GTI 270 last year. Fuel consumption over the course of the short drive route was 11.9L/100km.
The DSG was lightning quick shifting in sport mode but did so without the passengers winding up concussed.
Ride and handling made for a good balance, with suspension that was firm enough for proper driving dynamics and body control, but also compliant enough not to knock your fillings loose. Front-end grip was up to scratch and the car’s handling was stable at all times, with quick steering response to match. The steering was moderately weighted however, even in sport mode.
Being based on the Golf 7, the upgraded model offers ‘steady-as-she-goes’ packaging, with plenty of rear-seat room, and easy access (in this three-door GTI we drove), thanks to a one-step slide function and seat return memory. In front, the seat shape was ideal for comfort and support, with a great driving position delivering more than enough adjustment to suit drivers of all sorts of stature.
It’s the new interior fittings and sophisticated infotainment technology that are the big news for the GTI and other Golf variants. Everything facing the driver in the high-end models looked pretty flash, although the GTI driven used a key to start, which seemed out of place.
The 9.2″ screen displayed in fabulous resolution and the active info display (basically Audi’s Virtual Cockpit for Volkswagens) was comprehensive, informative and easy to use. In the case of the former, the entire width of the screen could display a satellite navigation route in photo-realist Google Maps 3D format. It’s quite something to see, you might say.
In addition, we sampled Gesture Control, which is a first in the small-car class, Volkswagen claims. It’s not as sophisticated (or ultimately as complex) as BMW’s 7 Series gesture control. All it offers really is a left or right swipe for changing stations/tracks or, other functions, even toggling between lap timer and performance display, as in the case of the GTI. It’s fairly straightforward to use once you’ve tried it a few times.

Beyond this, the dials are replaced by five capacitive buttons, though we still like the tactility of a proper volume knob. This was an aesthetic choice only, the company admits. The screen offers Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, WiFi, photorealistic sat-nav views (like Audi’s data SIM-powered unit) and even stores and displays high-res photos. It’s great.
The Active Info Display digitised instrument cluster has 1440x540 pixel resolution, can display 2D and 3D mapping, various dial sizes, trip data and more, with modes changed by buttons on the steering wheel. It’s tech that belongs on a $100,000 car, so it makes the Golf suddenly feel a bit Hollywood.
The downside is that, understandably, this tech will almost certainly be an optional extra on all bar the Volkswagen Golf R in Australia, bundled into a package for a few grand. At least all variants will now get a bigger 8.0-inch screen as standard-fit. That's a positive.
Elsewhere, the Golf’s cabin is more or less familiar, The switchgear is as before, as are the soft-touch and well-made plastic trims, though the seat cloth on entry grades appears to be different. Austere but well-made and comfortable.
Rear seat space remains moderate, though the big windows help visibility, while boot space is 380L/1270L. The wagon version takes this to 605L/1620L.
Australian specs aren’t out and about yet, though the new 110TSI base car will get 16-inch alloys, AEB and a touchscreen with App-Connect. The Comfortline will at least get bigger alloys, nicer seats and more tech, while the Highline will probably get new full-LED headlights among other niceties. All variants will also get the mid-tier 8.0-inch screen.
Pricing-wise, Volkswagen admits there’ll be increases of a few hundred dollars, mostly because the 110TSI engine is now the base unit.

This is the immortal creature
Turritopsis Nutricola is a jellyfish that lives in the sea and has the unique ability among all organisms and animals to be immortal. Understanding its mechanisms, can help in the discovery of eternity.
For several years scientists were aware of a particular creature living in the sea. It is a jellyfish, very little times from that we are used to seeing. The fact that he is immortal, is a very interesting puzzle and experts are trying to shed light on the immortality of the candle.
The lifespan of the lamp belongs nutricola Turritopsis species, which is actually really interesting. On the outside of the body, the lamp has a few cells that have the ability to reproduce and give the body a new skill, in necessary situations. These cells remain covered throughout life, which makes jellyfish his normal life and when he becomes older, or is facing a stressful situation, dies, except those cells.
The body of the candle remains a gelatinous mass that serves for protection, while the cells developed again covered. In this way the lamp starts to grow again and return to the state of an adult, while still maintaining such cells in his body. In this way it manages to regenerate again. Practically from the biological standpoint, this is immortal jellyfish. In fact it is not immortality, as we understand. It is as if we conserve some identical cells in the laboratory, such as when we are simply an embryo. At the moment we die, these cells can grow back and give life to what might be our brother. Adult embryo is genetically identical to that which is dead.
Of course, the immortality of the body covers only prolong life, in the sense that it would be possible for a man to have the same ability to candle, to be immortal. This can be done, but only to resist aging.
His ability does not actually save the other causes of death, for example in case it ends up in the digestive tract of predator.

Evidence about the meeting between aliens and astronauts
Clark C. McClelland says that in the past has worked as operator of NASA's space, the space center "Kennedy", which is located in Florida.During his career, he is to be involved in more than 650 missions in the agenda of Mercury and Apollo, as well as within the space program "Shuttle".
He says it was during one of these missions he became a spectator of a meeting between NASA astronaut and an alien over.McClelland said it had monitored the meeting from his office in the launch control center, where saw something that should not have to see. He insists on seeing an extraterrestrial about 2.7 meters long, which spoke with two US astronauts.
He says that this view had seen for about 1 minute and 7 seconds, which was enough to remember all that he had seen. He says that, apart from the alien, had seen his ship space. He says that one of his colleagues, then, had said in confidence that he had seen the same thing. So far, NASA has not given any statement regarding these allegations. Otherwise, it does not hesitate, in such cases, come away with denials.

It was planned that the national player - his contract runs until 2020 - only to 2018 to Munich. Now the Munich people must react faster. At the end of last season, Henrichs had a place to stay in Leverkusen.
Last November, he made his debut in the World Cup qualifying round in San Marino (8-0) for the DFB elite. The market value of the defensive player is, according to the deputy, ten million euros.
Bale's possibilities for returning at Real Madrid
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane hopes to have Gareth Bale available again inside a month after injury.
Bale has been sidelined since late November after undergoing surgery to repair the ankle tendon damage he suffered during a Champions League match against Sporting Lisbon.
Speaking on Friday, Zidane did not give an exact date as to when Bale might return, but is keeping his fingers crossed the 27-year-old will be available in time for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie with Napoli on March 7.
The Frenchman told a press conference ahead of Madrid's trip to Osasuna: 'I hope that Bale is back with us before the return leg against Napoli. He still has to return to team training, which is the most important thing.
'He's fine. He's working very well and looks determined.'
Madrid, who are one point clear at the top of La Liga and have two games in hand on all their title rivals, are scheduled to play at least seven matches before their trip to Naples, including the first leg at home to Napoli next Wednesday and league trips to Valencia and Villarreal.
Wales' next scheduled match is the World Cup qualifier against the Republic of Ireland on March 24.
Gareth Bale will earn £150m over the next six years in salaries and bonuses after signing a contract extension with Real Madrid until 2022 that will make him the best-paid player in the world.
The European champions confirmed on Sunday the 27-year-old has committed his future to the club he joined in September 2013 for a then world-record transfer fee of £85m.
“Real Madrid and Gareth Bale have agreed to the extension of the player’s contract, which ties him to the club until June 30, 2022,”.
Negotiations over an extension have been continuing for several months between Real and Bale’s representative, Jonathan Barnett, with an agreement reached a few weeks ago. It is understood the contract is worth more than £600,000 a week before tax with the buyout clause set at €1bn (£900m). It is believed to be one of the biggest in the history of the sport. That is the equivalent to around £350,000 a week after tax, more than the estimated £288,000 Real pay Cristiano Ronaldo. Negotiations over a new deal for the Portuguese have not yet been finalised.
The contract ends any lingering doubt that Bale would remain in Spain despite speculation he could return to the Premier League. He has scored 50 goals in 90 league appearances and helped Real lift five trophies during his three years at the club, including winning the Champions League in 2014 and 2016.
Bale joins Luka Modric, Toni Kroos and Lucas Vázquez in committing his future in recent weeks. His previous deal – signed in 2013 – was to run until 2019.

Chelsea offerd a club position for Lampard
Premier League leader Chelsea is considering to hire her legend Frank Lampard.
Former England s representatives weeks ago ended his football adventure of being retired.
So now Lampard is free and can take a leadership position in the club.
British giant, has initially approached him a post of ambassador at the club.
It remains to be seen whether the Englishman will accept the post because he has now begun to take a license to coach.
Lampard, who made over 100 appearances for England, joined Chelsea in 2001 at the age of 23 after impressing for London rivals West Ham.
The Romford-born star played over 400 league games for the Blues in his 13 years in west London, becoming arguably the club’s all-time greatest player.
Chelsea have not failed to beat a team outside the Premier League's top six since drawing away against Swansea City in September, and Conte says avoiding complacency against lesser opponents is crucial for any team with championship aspirations.
"Honestly, in England, if you ask me before the game 'Is it an easy game?' -- my reply is always the same," he added. "There are no easy games in England. We saw a lot of examples [this season] of teams at the bottom who won and drew [against top six sides].
"It is important always to have great concentration and focus and be ready to fight and try to win, if you want to win the title. If your ambition to be top four or top six you can have highs and lows. If you want to win you must always have the same concentration and focus and know that in every game you can lose points."
Chelsea's form has established them as clear favourites to win the Premier League, and both Pep Guardiola and Arsene Wenger have publicly admitted in recent weeks that the title is the Blues' to lose, but Conte is making no such assumptions.
"Honestly, I think there are six teams very strong and can fight to win the title," he insisted. "This is the truth and we must know this.
"If we think we have nine points and we are close to the title it is a great mistake. There are 14 games to play. There are five teams, six with Chelsea who can fight until the end to win the title. It is important not to make a big mistake in this race."

Dug in the backyard, unbelievable what he found
Jim Clark from Northumberland, England spent three decades trying to raise the bar in his yard.
He sowed it, the fertilizonte and water every time, year after year, but without results. Bari was not going.
He decided to see what is the problem with the land in his yard. Jim dug yard and discovered that underneath was a bunker built by the previous owner.
The bunker appears to be created to escape Nazi bombs. Jim lived in this house for 33 years and never found a single sign of this bunker, until last year.

Conte expecting Costa to continue at Chelsea
Antonio Conte has underlined Diego Costa's happiness at Chelsea, insisting he "loves" the club.
Standard Sport understands the striker was a January target for Chinese Super League outfit Tianjin Quanjian, who were prepared to part with more than £80 million and offer wages in excess of £570,000 a week.
Costa stayed at Stamford Bridge and, with Chelsea favourites to secure a second Premier League title in three years, Conte can see the striker staying for the long term.
"Diego is a really important player but the siutation is very clear," Conte told Gary Lineker on the BBC Two's 'Premier League Show'. "He's very happy to fight for the title.
“The situation is very clear. He is very happy to stay with us. He is very happy to fight for the title.
“Will he stay here for a long time? Yes, I think so. I think so.
“I see him every day and I see his commitment, his behaviour is very involved in the team. He loves this club.”
While confident that Costa’s services can be retained, Conte admits that the money on offer in the Chinese Super League has become a problem – with Chelsea having seen Ramires, Oscar and John Obi Mikel head to Asia in recent times.
He added: "It is a threat. It's very difficult to manage this type of situation.
"These offers are very strange. £60m for Oscar. A lot of money for the players.
"This is not the right way to pay a lot of money to keep the players at the club.
"As clubs we must have the right vision and not to lose that."
High-profile exits and gossip surrounding key men have not been a distraction for Chelsea this season, with Conte’s men having opened up a nine-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

7 teams that could be next season's Falcons
The Atlanta Falcons began the 2016 season with worse odds to win the Super Bowl than the Jaguars, Jets and Chargers. In fact, only four teams had worse odds than the Falcons. They came out of nowhere to reach the Super Bowl, putting together one of the best offensive seasons in NFL history. No one expected them to make it as far as they did, but for several reasons, they surprised everyone outside of Atlanta and nearly won it all.
So, which teams could be next season’s Falcons? There are a number of potential candidates. These teams have been relatively unsuccessful in recent years, and all of them missed the playoffs in 2016 – just as the Falcons did in 2015.
They also have good assets and fairly strong rosters with most of them missing a few pieces, thus preventing them from making the jump from being a fringe playoff team to Super Bowl contender.
7. Philadelphia Eagles
The NFC East will probably be the best division in football next year with all four teams boasting strong rosters. The Eagles are the weakest as of now, but that can change in the next few months.
Carson Wentz will have the entire offseason as the full-time starting quarterback, giving him additional time with the first team in OTAs and training camp. Believe it or not, but that will make a big difference over last season, when he was No. 3 on the depth chart. As long as he can avoid a sophomore slump, the Eagles will be better than their 7-9 record from this season.
The front office will have to do its part if it wants to take the team to the playoffs (and beyond) in 2017. Wentz needs more playmakers at wide receiver – players who can reliably make easy catches as well as break tackles to gain yardage after the catch.
The defense is fine, outside of holes at cornerback, which should allow them to choose offense in the first round of the draft. Or, in a different scenario, how good would free-agent wideout Alshon Jeffery look in green? Wentz would approve.
6. New Orleans Saints
It’s been four years since the Saints made the playoffs, which is far too long for a team with Drew Brees at quarterback. Will 2017 be the year they end that drought and make a run at a Super Bowl? It very well could be.
No one is really expecting the Saints to contend with the emergence of the Falcons and the Panthers expected to rebound. The Buccaneers are also an up-and-coming team, leaving the Saints with an uphill climb toward a division title in the NFC South. You’d be foolish to count out a team led by Brees and Sean Payton, though.
The Saints have endured three straight 7-9 seasons, largely thanks to an atrocious defense. The offense has ranked in the top two in yards in each of the past three years, while the defense has been 27th or worse each season. As a result, the Saints have a clear direction toward improving the roster: address the defense.
With the 11th overall pick and $28.7 million in cap space, the Saints have the assets to improve drastically on that side of the ball. If they do, they’ll be dangerous.
5. Cincinnati Bengals
Oh, how quickly the Bengals went from perennial contenders to a mediocre team. Prior to 2016, they had made the playoffs in five straight years. They lost in the first round each time, of course, but just making the postseason that many times is impressive.
This past season was obviously a disappointment, but the roster is still littered with talent. Giovani Bernard, Jeremy Hill, A.J. Green, Tyler Eifert, Andy Dalton – they’re all terrific talents, and that’s only talking about the offense. If those players can all stay relatively healthy, the Bengals will be dangerous.
Improving the offensive line in free agency and the draft will be crucial to their success. That was a weak point of the roster last year and was a big reason the Bengals struggled to run the ball.
They’re not as underrated as some of the other teams on this list, considering how successful they’ve been for the past six years, but it’d still be a surprise to many to see them reach the Super Bowl the way the Falcons did this season.
4. Minnesota Vikings
After the first five weeks of the 2016 season, the Vikings looked like Super Bowl contenders. They were the last undefeated team in the NFL, and the defense was championship-worthy. It was the offense that ultimately led to their downfall.
Though it’s unclear who will be their starting quarterback, it doesn’t matter much. Sam Bradford and Teddy Bridgewater are similar players, which makes it come down to the running game and the offensive line. If the Vikings can find success on the ground – be it with Adrian Peterson or a draft pick – it’ll open up the entire offense. Shoring up both tackle positions will also go a long way, considering how terrible they were at each spot due to injuries.
They came out of nowhere to go 5-0, so why can’t the Vikings sustain that sort of success in 2017? That’s the biggest question they face, and their offseason haul will be a big factor in whether their season ends in December or February -- at their home stadium for the Super Bowl -- next year.
3. Indianapolis Colts
It’s honestly pretty bizarre to think of the Colts as a “surprise” team in any given year, but that’s where we are with Indianapolis right now. They’ve missed the playoffs in back-to-back years for the first time since 1997-98, and the rest of the division has already caught up with them.
What they do have, though, is the best quarterback in the AFC South in Andrew Luck. As a result, the Colts are always a threat to win it all. Sure, they have their issues on both sides of the ball, but the offseason is shaping up to be a good one for the Colts. They’re picking in the top 15 and have about $55 million in cap space and Ryan Grigson is no longer the GM.
Indianapolis can solidify its offensive line, add a couple of playmakers on defense and possibly provide a spark to the running game with a dynamic back. If those three things happen, watch out for the Colts.
2. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Thanks to the Falcons’ remarkable run, people tend to forget that the Buccaneers had a legitimate shot at winning the NFC South late in the year. The Bucs lost the division by only two games after they lost two of their last three, but the NFC South was well within their reach.
The Falcons are going to be a top team in 2017, but the Buccaneers are one to watch as well. Jameis Winston is entering his third year in the NFL, Koetter will be in his second season, and the offense is filled with playmakers. They’ll give the Falcons a run for their money in the NFC South and could easily win that division.
After all, they went from 6-10 to 9-7 in the blink of an eye, improving in just about every category. It wouldn’t be a surprise to see them make the jump from 9-7 to 11-5 thanks to the development of Jameis Winston. We’ve seen a number of quarterbacks go from good to great in Year 3, and Winston can absolutely be the next.
1. Tennessee Titans
The Titans have been overlooked for years. They haven’t made the playoffs since 2008 and have had just two winning seasons since then, and they play in the AFC South. All of those things are true, but 2017 is going to change the narrative that they’re a dysfunctional franchise.
Tennessee doesn’t have the dominant offense that Atlanta had, and the defense isn’t filled with speedy playmakers. But there are similarities that could lead one to believe they’ll make a run next season.
They have two outstanding running backs in Derrick Henry and DeMarco Murray, Marcus Mariota is a smart quarterback with pinpoint accuracy, and Mike Mularkey is entering his second full season as the head coach – just as Dan Quinn did this season.
The Titans, in the always-weak AFC South, could easily make the playoffs and surprise everyone by making a run at the Super Bowl – especially after adding two rookies in the first round and two in the third (pending trades). If there’s a long shot to pick for the Super Bowl, it’s the Titans.

Record number of Americans are giving up their citizenship
As the White House engages in a fierce fight to restrict travel into the U.S. by citizens of some Muslim-majority countries, a record number of Americans are voluntarily renouncing their citizenship.
Last year, 5,411 individuals "expatriated" by renouncing their U.S. citizenship or terminating long-term residency in the U.S., recent data from the Treasury Department shows.
This marks a 26 percent jump from the previous record set in 2015, when 4,279 individuals expatriated.
What's driving the surge?
Tax law firm Andrew Mitchel LLC, which tracks the number closely, attributed the increase to "the escalation of offshore penalties over the last 20 years, (which) is likely contributing to the increased incidence of expatriation."
Indeed, the Treasury Department has upped its enforcement of tax rules for American expats, and some have decided that having to file taxes with multiple countries is just not worth the headache.

Marathon Pharmaceuticals to Charge $89,000 for Muscular Dystrophy Drug
Marathon Pharmaceuticals LLC says it will charge $89,000 annually in the U.S. for a decades-old steroidal drug that was approved for U.S. sale for the first time on Thursday, a price that is as much as 70 times higher than drug’s price overseas.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved the drug, called deflazacort, on Thursday to treat a rare type of muscular dystrophy that affects some 12,000 boys in the U.S., most of whom die in their 20s and 30s. The drug isn’t a cure, but it has been shown to improve muscle strength compared with a placebo, the FDA said in a statement announcing the approval.
The drug hasn’t been sold in the U.S. previously, mainly because no company thought it would be profitable enough to warrant the effort of seeking FDA approval. But U.S. patients have been importing it from foreign countries since the 1990s after clinical trials showed its potential to reduce inflammation with fewer side effects than another steroid.
The price set by Marathon, based in Northbrook, Ill., is 50 to 70 times what most U.S. patients now pay to buy deflazacort from an online pharmacy in the United Kingdom, according to advocates for patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Christine McSherry of Pembroke, Mass., pays about $1,600 annually to buy deflazacort from the U.K. pharmacy for her son, Jett, she said.
But the pharmacy recently told customers it would stop shipping the drug to the U.S. after Marathon received FDA approval for its version.
Ms. McSherry, who runs Jett Foundation, a nonprofit aimed at Duchenne, said she is “disappointed that Marathon increased my cost for the drug by more than $87,000 a year.”
Marathon Chief Financial Officer Babar Ghias defended the price in an interview. He said the company will likely receive much less in net revenue than its $89,000 per patient list price, after providing discounts to government insurers and financial assistance to patients who can’t afford the drug.
The company will start selling the medicine under the brand name Emflaza in March, Mr. Ghias said.
Mr. Ghias, a former mergers and acquisitions banker, said the company showed restraint in how it priced the drug. Other new drugs for so-called orphan diseases, which affect fewer than 200,000 people nationally, have carried higher price tags, he said.
“It’s modestly priced for an orphan drug,” Mr. Ghias said.
Pharmaceutical companies are under mounting scrutiny for their pricing of drugs, many of which now approach or exceed $100,000 annually per patient. Many companies defend themselves by saying that their prices are needed to justify their large investments in discovering and developing new treatments.
Marathon gained clearance to sell deflazacort after licensing the rights to clinical trial data from the 1990s that hadn’t been fully analyzed. The FDA required the company to complete an analysis of the old trial data and conduct some new studies to gain approval, Mr. Ghias said.
Mr. Ghias declined to say how much Marathon spent to acquire the trial data or conduct original research. He said Marathon doesn’t expect to recoup its investment in the drug for several years. Marathon doesn’t have commitments yet from insurers that they will pay for the drug, Mr. Ghias said.
Pat Furlong, a patient advocate, said she hopes deflazacort will be widely covered by insurers now that it is FDA-approved. But she worries that the drug’s price could continue to keep it out of reach for patients with high-deductible insurance or whose insurance won’t pay for the drug at all, she says.
“I worry about what people have to pay out of pocket,” said Ms. Furlong, president of the nonprofit Parent Project Muscular Dystrophy.

Shia LaBeouf’s Donald Trump Protest Shut Down By Museum
Shia LaBeouf’s Donald Trump protest has been shut down by the Museum of the Moving Image, and will not continue for its intended four-year duration. See statement below.
As Gossip Cop reported, LaBeouf started his “He Will Not Divide Us” live stream on Inauguration Day last month. The project consisted of a camera attached to the outside of the museum’s city-owned New York building, where anyone could come and be filmed 24/7 saying “he will not divide us.” LaBeouf planned for the protest to last throughout Trump’s four years as president.
But after multiple skirmishes, including one that led to LaBeouf getting arrested, the museum has decided to stop the outdoor exhibit. In a statement released on Friday, it’s said, “The Museum of the Moving Image has closed HEWILLNOTDIVIDE.US, a participatory Internet streaming performance by LaBeouf, Rönkkö & Turner. The installation created a serious and ongoing public safety hazard for the Museum, its visitors, staff, local residents, and businesses.”
“The installation had become a flashpoint for violence and was disrupted from its original intent,” says the museum. The statement continues:
“While the installation began constructively, it deteriorated markedly after one of the artists was arrested on the site of the installation and ultimately necessitated this action. Over the course of the installation, there have been dozens of threats of violence and numerous arrests, such that police felt compelled to be stationed outside the installation 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
We take our commitment to the safety of our 200,000 annual visitors and 50,000 school children attending programs at the Museum seriously, along with the safety and security of our staff and community.
We are proud to have launched this engaging and thought-provoking digital art installation which was experienced by millions of online viewers worldwide. Until public safety concerns overrode the intent of the installation, HEWILLNOTDIVIDE.US generated an important conversation allowing interaction among people from many backgrounds and with different viewpoints. However, ending our engagement with the installation is the most prudent path forward to restore public safety to the Museum, its visitors, staff, and the community.”
The live stream is no longer broadcasting. LaBeouf has not commented on the decision. It’s unclear if he’ll look to continue the project elsewhere. Trump himself never addressed the protest.

Everything you need to know about legal battle over Trump refugee ban
President Donald Trump’s administration faces a flurry of lawsuits challenging his Jan. 27 executive order to bar refugees and citizens of seven mostly Muslim countries from entering the U.S. A San Francisco-based appeals court on Feb. 9 rejected the administration’s request to re-instate the restrictions, after they were put on hold by a federal judge in Seattle. Still, the legal battle is only beginning, and differences of opinion are profound. Sally Yates, the acting U.S. attorney general at the time Trump’s order took effect, instructed the Justice Department to refrain from defending it in court, saying she wasn’t convinced it was "consistent with this institution’s solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right." Trump promptly fired her, and her replacement, Dana Boente, ordered Justice employees "to do our sworn duty and to defend the lawful orders of our president."
1. What does the executive order do?
It bars Syrian refugees from entering the U.S. indefinitely, and all other refugees -- people fleeing their homelands claiming persecution or fear of violence -- for 120 days. It also blocks entry to the U.S. for 90 days to citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen.
2. How many people are affected?
It’s hard to say. About 721 travelers out of 1 million people arriving in the U.S. were affected by Trump’s order in the 72 hours after it was signed, according to Customs and Border Protection data. According to the State Department, the U.S. provisionally revoked about 60,000 visas of people from the seven nations cited by Trump’s order. In its challenge to the order, the state of Washington said its residents include more than 7,000 non-citizen immigrants from the seven countries who would be deported if they traveled abroad and attempted to re-enter the U.S.
3. Why is the ban on hold?
In the most sweeping court action so far, U.S. District Judge James L. Robart in Seattle ruled on Feb. 3 that the states of Washington and Minnesota had met the burden of demonstrating that the order harmed the ability of certain residents to work, attend college, travel and conduct business and family relations. The ruling led to the reopening of U.S. borders to visa holders from the seven countries and spurred the State Department to reverse its cancellation of visas. The court in San Francisco upheld Robart’s ruling on appeal.
4. What’s next?
The administration is likely to ask the Supreme Court to urgently take up the narrow issue of whether the order should be in effect while the case brought by Washington and Minnesota is fully adjudicated. In any event, proceedings in that suit will resume in mid-February. And additional lawsuits have been filed around the country. Courts in Brooklyn, New York, and elsewhere have issued rulings narrower than Robart’s temporarily striking down parts of the order; a judge in Boston refused to extend a temporary hold.
5. What are the administration’s arguments?
Trump administration officials say the executive order protects Americans from potential terrorist attacks by targeting countries with dangerous jihadist movements. In court, they said that the president has “extreme power” over immigration and cited the Immigration and Nationality Act, which allows him to “suspend the entry of all aliens or any class of aliens” if their entry would harm U.S. interests. Courts aren’t allowed to second-guess the president on foreign affairs, national security and immigration, the U.S. argues. It says states can’t sue the U.S. over immigration policy and that foreigners not in America aren’t protected by U.S. law.
6. What do those challenging the order say?
They argue the order is, in effect, a ban on Muslims in violation of American values of religious freedom. In a 1982 ruling, the Supreme Court found that the U.S. Constitution’s Establishment Clause -- part of the First Amendment -- means "that one religious denomination cannot be officially preferred over another." Complicating matters, Trump told Christian Broadcast News in an interview that he intended to give priority to Christians from the Middle East over Muslims. Some critics of the order have argued that if it were purely motivated by security concerns it would also have targeted Saudi Arabia and Egypt -- the home countries of 9/11 attackers including the plot’s leader, and two countries where Trump has business interests.
7. What is Trump’s response?
Trump says the order isn’t a Muslim ban, because it focuses on geography rather than religion. That assurance was undermined somewhat by one of his chief campaign supporters, Rudy Giuliani, who said Trump was looking for a legal way to enact a "Muslim ban." Plus, Trump himself, as a candidate, called for "a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country’s representatives can figure out what is going on."
8. Is Trump’s action unprecedented?
The administration says it’s not. According to the gove
